A New Flight Towards Science
Raipur, May 11, 2025 / On the evening of Saturday, May 10, an amazing sight was witnessed at the Mini Stadium of Government Adarsh Ramanuj Higher Secondary School, Baikunthpur, Korea district, where the sparkle of curiosity towards science and astronomy was clearly visible in the eyes of the children. The Mega Sky Watching program, organized with the participation of more than 500 students from the district, proved to be a significant step in the direction of taking science education to the masses.
The special thing about this event was that the students not only heard scientific facts, but also experienced them directly. Observing the Moon, Mars and Jupiter through a telescope was no less than an exciting journey for the students. The display of cosmic events through the LED screen was also very attractive and educational.
The program was jointly organized by District Administration Korea, Junior Red Cross Society and Breakthrough Science Society Korea. Its objective was to develop a scientific approach in the students, encourage logical thinking and generate interest in subjects like astronomy.
The chief guest of the program was District Collector Smt. Chandan Tripathi, along with District Superintendent of Police Shri Ravi Kurre and District Panchayat Vice President Smt. Vandana Rajwade. Praising the enthusiasm and participation of the children, these officers said that such events strengthen scientific awareness and thinking in the new generation.
The scientific representatives involved in the program, Shri Patit Pavan Kuila, Shri Vijay Kumar, Ms. Pooja Sharma and Shri Kamal Dadsena, presented interesting facts related to the universe to the students in simple language. Telescope experts Jeevan Sahu and Neeraj Kumar gave practical information about the equipment along with technical lectures. The participation of the education sector became even stronger with the presence of District Education Officer Shri Jitendra Gupta.
Students from government and non-government schools of the district participated in the program along with heads of institutions, teachers and parents. Starting at 5 pm, people of all age groups enjoyed this unique journey of astronomy.
This special initiative not only connected the students to the Milky Way and the solar system, but also instilled a new energy and curiosity for science within them. This program proved to be a milestone in the direction of bringing a scientific approach to the thinking of the students.
The basic mantra of the program, science for humanity, science for society, science in thought, was not only understood, but also lived. The appeal made by the district administration to all educational institutions to ensure maximum participation of students also yielded results, making science not a complex subject, but a living subject worth experiencing.
This event proved that if students get the right platform and opportunity, they can reach the heights of the sky in the world of science as well.
