Seven urban bodies of Chhattisgarh to receive national awards in Swachh Survekshan

Raipur, July 12, 2025/ In Swachh Survekshan-2024, the urban bodies of Chhattisgarh have once again made their strong presence at the national level. In the Swachh Survekshan Award ceremony to be held in New Delhi on July 17, seven urban bodies of the state will be honored with national awards for their excellent performance on the parameters of cleanliness. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu will present these awards. On this occasion, Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal and Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Tokhan Sahu will also be present.
President Smt. Droupadi Murmu will present Presidents Awards to three urban bodies of Chhattisgarh in the Swachh Survekshan Award ceremony. Bilaspur Municipal Corporation will be awarded in the category of cities with a population of three lakh to ten lakh (Big Cities), Kumhari Municipality in the category of cities with a population of 20 thousand to 50 thousand (Small Cities) and Bilha Nagar Panchayat in the category of cities with a population of less than 20 thousand (Very Small Cities). In addition, Raipur Municipal Corporation will be awarded the Ministerial Award by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for its best work at the state level in the field of cleanliness.
To recognize the cities that have performed extraordinarily in the field of cleanliness, a special category named Super Swachhta League (SSL) has been started this year. This league includes those cities which have secured a place in the top three at least once in the last three years and have been in the top 200 in their respective population category in the current year. Three urban bodies of Chhattisgarh have been selected in this new category – Ambikapur Municipal Corporation (category of cities with a population of 50 thousand to three lakh), Patan Nagar Panchayat and Bishrampur Nagar Panchayat (category of cities with a population of less than 20 thousand) have been selected for SSL.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao have congratulated and wished the seven urban bodies selected for the national awards in Swachh Survekshan. He said that this is the excellent result of the continuous efforts being made by the Urban Administration and Development Department and local bodies to make the cities of the state clean and beautiful. He expressed hope that in the coming time, more urban bodies of the state will be honored at the national level for cleanliness. The Chief Minister also said that everyone, from urban governments to the state and central governments, is working continuously with many innovations to make cities clean, beautiful and well-equipped.

I congratulate all the winning urban bodies and I am confident that Chhattisgarh will remain the leading state in the country in this cleanliness campaign.”
