Bijapur: Like Ambeli in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, Naxalites had planted IED bomb in Basaguda also to harm the police. Which was neutralized by the security forces. BDS team of CIAF 168 had gone out for demining duty on Basaguda-Awapalli road. Then on Basaguda-Awapalli road, BDS team detected about 50 kg IED planted by Maoists from under the bridge located near Timapur Durga Temple.
Maoists had removed concrete and stones from under the culvert and planted an IED inside it and the stones were placed again in the same manner. When the IED was detected in the metal detector during demining, an attempt was made to take out the IED safely but due to the IED being planted at a greater depth, it was destroyed on the spot from the security point of view. Maoists used RC with the intention of damaging large vehicles. (Remote Control) IED was planted under the culvert.
The nefarious plans of the Maoists were foiled due to the vigilance and intelligence of the security forces. Due to the destruction of the IED, a deep pit has been created in the road, which is being filled and traffic is being restored.
