Chief Minister Shri Sai honored the sanitation workers, said – they are playing an important role in making the country clean and healthy.
Raipur July 25, 2025/Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that sanitation is not just a campaign, but a collective responsibility of all of us. He said that the role of our sanitation sisters has been extremely important in making the country clean and healthy, who have given a new direction to the society with dedication, hard work and spirit of service. Chief Minister Shri Sai honored the sanitation workers by presenting them with sarees, mementos, and certificates of appreciation at a felicitation ceremony organized in Bagia village of Jashpur district today.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Jashpur is a naturally rich and beautiful district, but earlier when he used to visit villages, the garbage spread along the roads used to tarnish the beauty of the villages and towns. To change this situation, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji started the Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2, 2014, and transformed it into a national mass movement. He himself picked up the broom and inspired people, igniting the flame of cleanliness in every village and city. He tried to ensure that every citizen gets the right to live a clean and dignified life.
The Chief Minister said that the participation of our sanitation sisters in this campaign has been very important. It is a result of their tireless hard work and dedication that today the Jashpur district has made its own mark at the national level in the field of sanitation. They truly deserve respect because they have made an invaluable contribution in providing us with a clean and healthy environment. The Chief Minister appealed to all citizens to consider the cleaning of their homes, neighborhoods, intersections, temples, and public places as their duty and to make cleanliness a habit.
It is noteworthy that out of 4,589 cities were included under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U) in the Swachh Survekshan 2024, conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to evaluate and promote urban sanitation reforms. In this national survey, the urban local bodies of Jashpur district have performed unprecedentedly and hoisted their flag across the country. Jashpur Nagar secured the 10th position in the entire country in the population category of 20,000 to 50,000, which is a long jump from its 505th rank in 2023. In the same category, Nagar Panchayat Kunkuri secured the 13th rank, Nagar Panchayat Pathalgaon secured the 30th rank, Nagar Panchayat Bagicha secured the 51st rank, and Nagar Panchayat Kotba secured the 64th rank. This extraordinary achievement is a result of the hard work of the sanitation sisters and the coordinated efforts of the administrative team.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, many planned activities are being undertaken by the urban local bodies to make the district clean and beautiful, including BT road construction, road marking, upgrading of community toilets, beautification of intersections, wall painting, construction of parks from waste material, establishment of composting sheds and recycling centers, paver blocks on footpaths, signage, etc. However, the soul of these efforts are those sanitation sisters who carry out arduous tasks like door-to-door waste collection by visiting every street and neighborhood.
On this occasion, Jashpur MLA Smt. Raymuni Bhagat congratulated all the sanitation workers, officials of urban local bodies, and citizens for this achievement. The Vice-Chairman of Sarguja Development Authority and Pathalgaon MLA Smt. Gomti Sai said that the sanitation workers are doing work that was previously neglected in society. She said that earlier people were not conscious of cleanliness, but under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the sisters not only made people aware but also ensured behavioral change, which has brought this honor to Jashpur.
District Panchayat President Shri Salik Sai, Vice-President Shri Shaurya Pratap Singh Judev, Collector Shri Rohit Vyas, Municipal Council President Shri Arvind Bhagat, Vice-President Shri Yash Pratap Singh Judev, and other public representatives and dignitaries were present in large numbers at the event.
