Raipur, September 06, 2025/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai today inaugurated the first robotic surgical system ‘Dev Hast’ of government health institutions in Central India at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) located in Tatibandh, Raipur. On this occasion, he said, “Robotic surgery is a new dimension in the development of medical facilities in Chhattisgarh. This historic moment will prove to be a milestone in providing modern and better treatment to the people of the state.”
Chief Minister Shri Sai himself formally launched this state-of-the-art technology by doing the first dry lab dissection on ‘Dev Hast’. This system is the first robotic surgical system to be established in any government health institution in Central India.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai also announced the construction of a well-equipped family residence in AIIMS Raipur for the convenience of the families of patients admitted from Chhattisgarh and other states.
The Chief Minister said, “Doctors are considered as the form of God on earth because they give us life. Today, the robotic surgery system that is being inaugurated has been named ‘Dev Hast’. Its benefit will be available not only to Chhattisgarh but also to the patients of other states admitted in AIIMS Raipur. AIIMS Raipur is continuously proving to be a milestone in providing excellent medical facilities.”
Addressing the program, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that he has a special attachment to AIIMS Raipur. He said that “When the construction of Raipur AIIMS was approved, I was an MP and had requested Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee to establish a branch of AIIMS in Chhattisgarh. This was necessary so that the pressure on the only AIIMS located in Delhi could be reduced and people from other states could also get high-level medical facilities in their own state. We are fortunate that Chhattisgarh was also among the six states that were approved to establish AIIMS.”
Announcing the family residence, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that “I understand very well how necessary the facility of accommodation for the families of patients coming from far and wide is. While being an MP, people used to call my residence in Delhi as ‘Mini AIIMS’ because I used to arrange for the families of patients to stay there. This work of public service is very close to my heart. In the parliamentary term of 2014 to 2019, I had given about Rs 12 crore to the patients from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. Arrangements have also been made for the families of patients in Kunkuri Sadan in Raipur, which is benefited by the people of the entire state.”
The Chief Minister said that after the formation of the government in the last 20 months, five new medical colleges have been approved in the state and work is being done continuously towards the expansion of health facilities. He informed that a medicity with a capacity of 5,000 beds is being constructed in Nava Raipur. At the time of the formation of Chhattisgarh state, there was only one medical college, while today 15 medical colleges are operating in the state. He said that due to changes in lifestyle and diet, serious diseases like cancer have increased and their treatment is also expensive. Because of this, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi started the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, under which people of the poor section get free treatment up to five lakh rupees. Now, under the Vay Vandana Yojana, this facility is also being provided to patients of all sections above 70 years of age.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said that with the passage of time, while medical facilities are increasing, the scope of diseases is also increasing. He said that “Robotic surgery has special importance in modern medical practice. Through this, medical capacity and quality can be increased many times. Chhattisgarh will get a lot of benefit from the ‘Dev Hast’ robotic surgical system and the facility of robotic surgery will also be made available soon in Mekahara Hospital of Raipur.”
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai presented a prize money of five thousand rupees to Ms. Jyotsna Kiradu, the winner of the competition organized for the naming of ‘Dev Hast’.
