Raipur – Raipur Central Jail organized a special yoga and meditation session to mark International Yoga Day. Around 200 inmates and jail staff took part in the event. This was the first time the jail observed International Meditation Day.
The session was guided by Ajay Singh, a senior instructor from the ‘Art of Living’ and a former member of the Yoga Commission. He taught the inmates different techniques of meditation, pranayama, and yoga. Singh explained that these techniques can lead to mental peace, emotional balance, stress reduction, and better sleep.
Jail Superintendent Amit Shandilya stated that incorporating yoga into lifestyle is crucial. The jail administration plans to conduct regular yoga, pranayama, and Sudarshan Kriya camps.
The inmates showed great enthusiasm and discipline, participating actively in these reformative activities. This initiative is seen as a major step towards the mental and spiritual well-being of the inmates. The program has fostered a positive environment within the jail and supports the rehabilitation of inmates and their return to society. This yoga initiative in Raipur Central Jail is contributing to a new reformative culture.
