The monsoon season has brought heavy rains to numerous regions in India. Delhi, the nation’s capital, is also experiencing the effects, with intermittent light showers. While the temperature has slightly decreased, the humidity has risen, leading to uncomfortable conditions. The weather forecast for Delhi includes partly cloudy skies, potential thunderstorms, and light rain, with maximum and minimum temperatures of 37 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Eastern and central India are bracing for heavy rainfall. The Meteorological Department anticipates heavy rain in Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh until July 8th. Sikkim, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar are likely to experience heavy rainfall by July 6th, while the northeastern states of Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram may face severe rainfall this week.
North-western India is also on alert. The weather forecast indicates heavy rainfall in Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand until July 8th. Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir are expected to receive very heavy rainfall.
Himachal Pradesh has already witnessed devastating impacts from the monsoon. Similarly, Uttarakhand has seen rivers swell to dangerous levels, causing potential flooding in several districts. The Western parts of India, particularly the Ghat regions of Maharashtra, are expected to face very heavy rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rain is predicted in central Maharashtra, Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa during the upcoming week.
