Public safety is the top priority: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, taking information about the relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected districts of Bijapur, Sukma, Dantewada and Bastar, has directed the officers to take immediate action. The Chief Minister clearly stated that the safety of the people is the top priority and the administration should work with full activeness so that no affected family faces any inconvenience.
The Chief Minister has directed that all the people staying in relief camps should be provided with food, medical facilities and essential materials on time. He has ordered the administration to immediately provide assistance to the villages affected by the floods and to monitor the situation from the disaster control rooms.
It is noteworthy that the lives of people in four districts of the state have been affected due to continuous rain. According to the Disaster Management Department, the highest rainfall on August 26 and 27 was recorded in Dantewada district, where 93.7 mm and 118.4 mm of rain respectively occurred. 35 to 109.3 mm in Sukma, 34.9 to 50.2 mm in Bijapur and 67.3 to 121.3 mm of rainfall was recorded in Bastar, due to which 25 villages have been affected by floods.
Revenue Secretary and Disaster Relief Commissioner Smt. Reena Babasaheb Kangale informed that a total of 43 relief camps have been established in 4 districts for the affected people, in which 1,116 from Dantewada district, 790 from Sukma, 120 from Bijapur and 170 from Bastar, thus a total of 2,196 affected people have been accommodated in the relief camps. So far, information has been received about 5 deaths, loss of 17 livestock, partial damage to 165 houses and complete damage to 86 houses. Relief and rescue work is being done by the City Army and SDRF in all the districts and food has been arranged for the people staying in the relief camps. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department is continuously in contact with the districts, keeping in view the flood situation and necessary cooperation is being provided. The Disaster Friends are assisting the district administration in dealing with the flood situation in district Sukma.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, expressing deep sympathy over the loss of life and damage, said that immediate financial assistance will be provided to the affected families and rehabilitation work will be done on priority. The Chief Minister said that the administration and relief teams should remain active continuously, help should reach every needy person immediately and relief material should be available on time.
Chief Minister Shri Sai appealed to the general public to follow the guidelines issued by the administration and to contact the local control room immediately in case of any need. Chief Minister Shri Sai expressed confidence that with the collective cooperation of the administration and the public, we will soon overcome this disaster and normal life will be restored in the affected areas soon.
