Electricity bill halved, state government giving an additional grant of 30 thousand
Raipur. June 29, 2025. The Prime Minister Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana is proving beneficial for the people of Bilaspur district like the whole country. This is not only promoting environmental protection, but also providing relief from hefty electricity bills in this era of inflation. Mrs. Anjali Singh, a resident of Ashok Nagar, Bilaspur, has installed a three-kilowatt solar plant on her roof. She said that the total cost of this solar plant was one lakh 85 thousand rupees. She also received a subsidy of 78 thousand rupees from the central government.
Mrs. Anjali Singh said that before installing the solar plant, her monthly electricity bill used to be between two and a half to three thousand rupees. But now her electricity bill has been halved. This has given her great financial relief. She said that the visionary thinking of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is contributing significantly to promoting renewable energy and conserving natural resources. In the Prime Minister Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the state government is now also working with the central government to benefit the consumers.
The cabinet of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has decided to give an additional grant of up to 30 thousand rupees in the Prime Minister Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana to promote renewable energy and provide relief to electricity consumers. Mrs. Anjali Singh of Bilaspur said that earlier there were problems when the electricity went off, and complaints had to be made again and again. Now these problems have been resolved. She said that the setup was also installed within ten days of applying. She thanked the government for the scheme and said that the maintenance of the solar system is very simple and there is no extra cost involved. She suggested that everyone should join this scheme, calling it useful for every person.
Subsidy being received from the government, can register through website or app
Under the Prime Minister Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the installed solar roof-top plant is connected to the electricity grid through net metering. Consumers can produce more electricity than they need and supply it to the grid, which, along with zeroing their electricity bill, also earns them extra income. Under the scheme, a subsidy of 30 thousand rupees from the central government and 15 thousand rupees from the state government, i.e. a total of 45 thousand rupees, is given on installing a one-kilowatt solar plant. On two kilowatts, 60 thousand rupees from the central government and 30 thousand rupees from the state government, and on installing a three-kilowatt solar panel, 78 thousand rupees from the central government and 30 thousand rupees from the state government, i.e. a total grant of one lakh eight thousand rupees, will be received.
