Raipur, September 19, 2025/ With the aim of making the country energy self-sufficient and providing clean, affordable and continuous electricity to every household, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has launched the Prime Minister Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana. This ambitious scheme is not only providing relief to citizens from electricity bills forever, but is also making families self-reliant and making a revolutionary contribution to environmental protection. In Chhattisgarh, the implementation of this scheme is being done in a very effective and sensitive manner under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the pace of adopting solar energy in the state has accelerated.
The impact of the Prime Minister Suryaghar Yojana is of special importance in Korba district, which is called the “Power Capital” of the country. Many families here are benefiting from this scheme and saving money every month and getting rid of the hassle of electricity bills. One of the inspiring examples among them is Ranjit Kumar, a resident of Nakatikhar, Korba, who has paved the way for an energy revolution in the life of his family.
Shri Ranjit Kumar, who is working as a dumper operator in SECI, Kusmunda, is a hardworking person. The electricity bill every month, the daily needs of the family and the expenses of the children’s studies often disturbed his budget. This was the reason that when he got information about the Prime Minister Suryaghar Yojana, he immediately applied and decided to take its benefit. Two months ago, he applied and got a solar panel system installed on the roof of his house. Its total cost was about Rs 2 lakh 10 thousand, Rs 78 thousand subsidy from the central government has already been received. In the remaining amount, he took a loan at a cheap and easy rate and made some cash payments. In just a few weeks, this investment proved to be the biggest boon for his life. Earlier, where the electricity bill of his house used to go up to thousands of rupees every month, now the monthly bill of the house running on solar energy is only Rs 130.
The Prime Minister Suryaghar Yojana is not limited to improving the economic condition of families, but it is also a great friend of nature and the environment. Solar energy not only reduces dependence on traditional fuels like coal and diesel, but also significantly reduces air pollution. In an industrial district like Korba, where coal-based electricity production takes place on a large scale, the increasing use of solar energy is a historic contribution to environmental protection. Families are getting freedom from electricity bills, lighting and operation of appliances is becoming possible in homes, people are moving towards energy self-sufficiency.
Mr. Kumar and his family said, “Now we are not worried about the electricity bill. Solar panel has made our life easy. Children’s studies are not interrupted and household appliances also run without interruption. Today, their house is not only illuminated but has also become an ideal in the direction of energy saving and environmental protection. The lives of the common people are changing with the strong implementation of the Prime Minister Suryaghar Yojana. This scheme is an inspiration for those thousands of families who were looking for a permanent solution for electricity till now. PM Suryaghar Yojana has shown them the path of self-reliance, economic strength and clean energy.
