The 20th installment of the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme brought financial relief to millions of farmers across India, including 25.47 lakh farmers in Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the release of funds through a video conference, ensuring that approximately 9.26 crore eligible farmers across the country received a total of Rs 18,000 crore directly into their bank accounts. This marked a significant milestone for Chhattisgarh’s farmers, who received Rs 553.34 crore under the scheme. Since its inception in February 2019, the state’s farmers have benefited from a total of Rs 9765.26 crore under this initiative.
A state-level farmers’ convention was held in Raipur at the Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University auditorium. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai graced the occasion as the chief guest, joined by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Tokhan Sao, Chhattisgarh’s Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, and other dignitaries from the government and agriculture sector.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai highlighted the importance of the PM-Kisan scheme, emphasizing that it aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering Indian farmers and doubling their income. He stressed that the scheme represents a historic step towards achieving this goal and underscored the state government’s commitment to supporting farmers through various other initiatives.
Union Minister of State Tokhan Sao expressed satisfaction at the widespread benefit Chhattisgarh farmers have received from central government schemes. He emphasized the significant impact of the PM-Kisan scheme, stating that over Rs 3 lakh crore has been disbursed to farmers across the country so far.
Farmers who have benefited from the scheme shared their experiences on the platform, showcasing the positive impact it has had on their agricultural practices. The convention also brought together agricultural scientists, officials, and representatives from cooperative societies to discuss and engage in a dialogue about the future of agriculture in Chhattisgarh.
The PM-Kisan scheme provides financial assistance of Rs 2,000 every four months to each eligible farmer family, amounting to Rs 6,000 annually. This direct financial support is delivered to farmers’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.
