Chief Minister Shri Sai attends a one-day workshop on parliamentary journalism
Raipur, July 5, 2025 // Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, while addressing a one-day workshop on parliamentary reporting at the auditorium of the Assembly complex today, congratulated the state of Chhattisgarh and the Assembly on their silver jubilee year. He said that the State Assembly has also completed a glorious journey of 25 years and has strengthened democratic values. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that workshops were also organized recently for the MLAs, which benefited our members. He said that there are many newly elected MLAs in the Assembly, whose responsibility is to raise the problems of their area in the House. Similarly, journalists also have an important role, who convey the activities of the Assembly to the public. He said that all of you journalist colleagues cover the proceedings of the Assembly with great effort, so that the general public can know that their issues are being taken up seriously by the MLAs.
Chief Minister Shri Sai also appreciated the tradition of honoring outstanding journalists by the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly and said that it boosts the morale of journalists and promotes parliamentary reporting. He expressed confidence that this workshop would prove to be very useful for journalists and through this, the activities of the Assembly will reach the public more effectively.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, in his address, while highlighting the importance of parliamentary journalism, said that the contribution of journalists in the 25-year golden journey of Chhattisgarh has been unparalleled. He said that parliamentary journalism is a very sensitive responsibility, which maintains the confidentiality, discipline and dignity of the House while performing the work of delivering accurate and impartial information to the public. Dr. Singh said that when journalists observe the proceedings of the Assembly impartially, beyond party lines, and present it, then democracy is strengthened. He said that only with a deep understanding of the parliamentary system can journalists better inform the public about the activities of the Assembly. He also said that it is necessary to present the news related to the proceedings of the Assembly in simple language in parliamentary journalism, so that it can reach the general public effectively. On this occasion, Assembly Speaker Dr. Singh, while remembering the senior and deceased journalists of Chhattisgarh, said that the journalistic tradition of the state has always played an important role in maintaining the dignity of the Assembly.
In the workshop, Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant, while connecting the role of journalists with the tradition of Narad Muni, said that journalists are the carriers of democracy with punctuality and vigilance. Dr. Mahant said that through this workshop, everyone will get an opportunity to learn something new and the scope of understanding parliamentary journalism will become wider and broader. He hoped that this event would prove useful and would give a new direction to the work of journalists. Remembering his long parliamentary journey, he said that the time and experience spent with the journalists during this period have been very valuable. He appreciated the vigilance, accuracy and sensitivity of the journalists, who have been playing an important role in conveying parliamentary activities to the public for years.
On this occasion, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Assembly Secretary Shri Dinesh Sharma, former Director General of IIMC Shri Sanjay Dwivedi and a large number of journalists were present.
