An appalling case of rape and murder has shaken the Morwa police station area of Singrauli district in Madhya Pradesh. The victim, a young woman from Korba district, Chhattisgarh, was allegedly murdered after being raped. The incident occurred three days ago, but the local police are facing severe criticism for their alleged inaction and negligence.
The victim’s family reported that the young woman’s body remained outside a hospital in Morwa for three days. Local medical professionals initially declined to perform a post-mortem examination, citing the body’s advanced state of decomposition. The body was eventually transferred to the Rewa Medical College Hospital, where it was received late on Monday.
The family has claimed that they registered a murder case with the Morwa police station. However, the police have allegedly refused to file a case of rape. The family further alleges that police officials have been trying to dissuade the victim’s relatives from remaining at the police station, leading to a sense of deep anger and disappointment. Senior police officers have visited the scene to assess the situation and calm the public. The family, in a display of their grief and anger, transported the body to Korba and staged a road blockade at Aamgaon Chowk.
