Businesses in Chhattisgarh can now pay their Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns using credit cards, debit cards, and UPI, marking a significant upgrade in tax payment convenience. The state government, under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Finance Minister OP Choudhary, has expanded payment gateways to meet the persistent demands of trade associations and business owners.
This initiative is a direct response to the drawbacks of the previous system, which relied solely on net banking and physical bank visits. These older methods often resulted in failed transactions and connectivity issues with the GST portal, causing considerable frustration and setbacks for many enterprises.
The expanded payment infrastructure is now live on the official GST portal (www.gst.gov.in), offering a secure and accessible platform. Finance Minister OP Choudhary highlighted that this move aligns with the government’s vision for greater transparency and streamlined digital governance. By simplifying tax processes, Chhattisgarh aims to foster a more efficient tax ecosystem, improve revenue collection, and enhance its reputation for business-friendly policies and digital innovation.
