*Chief Minister’s initiative pays off, Air Squadron starts in Jashpur*
It is noteworthy that during the last NCC Day celebration, Chief Minister Shri Sai had expressed his desire to start NCC Air Squadrons in other cities of the state with airstrips, similar to Raipur. So far, only in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, air NCC and flying training are imparted, while facilities of airstrips are also available in places like Jagdalpur, Bilaspur, Ambikapur, and Jashpur. On this initiative of the Chief Minister, the Agdih airstrip of Jashpur was approved for the 3CG Air NCC Squadron in March, and a microlight aircraft was sent to Jashpur for training. During this, approximately 100 cadets were provided with actual flying experience. Chief Minister Shri Sai himself visited the airstrip, inspected the training program, and interacted with the cadets. The cadets also shared technical information related to the aircraft with him.
*Better employment opportunities for trained cadets*
Currently, the 3CG Air NCC Air Squadron is the only Air Squadron in the entire country where AIIMS, MBBS, and nursing students are associated as cadets. Cadets get opportunities for 25 vacancies/courses in the army through UPSC and SSB interviews, and 50 vacancies/courses for Officers Training Academy through SSC, for which UPSC exam is not required and selection is only through SSB interview. 20 seats are reserved for girls. 10 percent vacancies are in all courses including Air Force flying training courses. For which AFCAT, UPSC exam is not required. Similarly, 2 to 10 bonus marks are given in paramilitary force recruitment. Many industries also prioritize jobs based on NCC C certificate.
