A private entity will undertake the development of the ‘Chitrotpala Film City,’ slated for a 70-acre site in Mana-Tuta, near Atal Nagar. The project has received the green light from a committee headed by the Chief Secretary, adopting the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Chhattisgarh Tourism Board is actively preparing for the tender, which is anticipated to be released within a month after finalizing contract conditions. The estimated cost of the film city is 95 crore rupees, with construction expected to commence in the coming months.
Under the PPP model, private investors will be granted land to construct studios and supporting infrastructure. The film city will also feature e-buses. An investment of approximately 400 crore rupees is anticipated, generating employment for numerous local artists and young people. The government’s objective is to foster collaboration with private investors, producers, and artists involved in the film industry.
The central government has approved a 147-crore-rupee investment for the film city and tourism initiatives in Chhattisgarh, in response to a state government proposal. This film city aims to boost Chhattisgarhi cinema, theatre, and tourism. The Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2024-25 includes the construction of the Chitrotpala Film City in Mana-Tuta, Raipur, with an outlay of 95.79 crore rupees, and a Tribal and Cultural Convention Center, budgeted at 51.87 crore rupees.
