Atal Nagar is rapidly moving towards becoming a healthcare hub
Raipur, November 29, 2025 / Health, education, and research are the true foundations of any developed society. As India rapidly moves towards its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, quality healthcare services have become our top priority. With this vision, the ‘Medicity’ project being developed by the Chhattisgarh government in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar is ushering in a new era of healthcare not just for Chhattisgarh but for the entire Central India. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Finance Minister Shri OP Chaudhary, this project is emerging as the country’s most ambitious and forward-looking health initiative.
Nava Raipur Atal Nagar has already been a major center for education, transport, industry, and modern urban infrastructure. Now, Medicity is set to establish it as the healthcare capital at the national level. State-of-the-art connectivity, a comprehensive transportation network, and a strategically advantageous geographical location are making Nava Raipur a prime destination for advanced health services not only for Chhattisgarh but also for neighboring states like Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. More than 7 crore passengers use the airport and rail services here every year, and with international flights set to commence soon, extensive opportunities for medical tourism will open up here.
The Medicity, being developed over 200 acres in Sector 36-37, with a capacity of over 5,000 beds and the participation of the country’s leading healthcare groups, will establish this project as the largest health city in the country.
Medical University, Nursing College, and Research Institutes are being established in Medicity to prepare a new and competent generation of doctors, nurses, and paramedical professionals. State-of-the-art diagnostic labs, along with Cardiology, Cancer Science, Neurology, Orthopedics, Organ Transplant, and multi-specialty hospitals, will take healthcare services to new heights here. Facilities like residential complexes, hostels, hotels, and dharamshalas for patients and their families will transform this entire area into a well-organized, human-centric medical zone. The ‘Walk-to-Hospital’ model, eco-friendly design, accessible public transport connectivity, and affordable treatment services under schemes like PMJAY and CGHS make this project fully inclusive.
It is noteworthy that excellent health institutions already active in Nava Raipur provide an even stronger foundation for this structure. Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital has been a leading national and international center for pediatric cardiology since 2012, treating patients not only from India but also from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and African countries. The 170-bed Balco Cancer Hospital, operational since 2018, offers state-of-the-art cancer treatment within a 500-600 km radius of Central India. Raipur’s clean environment and low cost of living make it even more suitable for patients.
Medicity will not only be a health project but also a hub of vast economic activities. Thousands of jobs will be created in health, pharma, wellness, and support services. The expansion of affordable housing, commercial establishments, and new service activities around it will also contribute significantly to the state’s GDP.
Nava Raipur Medicity is the commitment of the Chhattisgarh government that says—quality health for all, high facilities at low cost, and a guarantee of a safe life. It is not just a project, but a new definition of India’s healthy, safe, and developed future. In the coming years, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Medicity will bring revolutionary changes to the health landscape not only of Central India but of the entire country and will be established as an ideal healthcare model internationally.
Nava Raipur Medicity will become an engine of Chhattisgarh’s economic and social progress, giving new direction to the state’s development speed for decades to come. This world-class healthcare city, being developed over 200 acres, will not only provide advanced medical facilities but will also strengthen the state’s economy by creating thousands of jobs in the health, pharma, wellness, education, and service sectors. With the establishment of AIIMS, Bombay Hospital Trust, Medical University, and Super Specialty institutions, Nava Raipur will emerge as a national health hub. The Medicity model is based on the principles of ‘Accessibility, Affordability, and High Quality’ and will make Chhattisgarh a leading center for medical tourism, research, and health economy in the coming years. – Finance Minister Shri OP Chaudhary*
