The much-awaited monsoon is bringing respite from the intense heat. Heavy rainfall is already lashing the northeastern and southern states. Pre-monsoon showers are also occurring in areas like Delhi and the western Himalayas. The southwest monsoon has progressed, now covering regions of Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha.
Over the next couple of days, the monsoon is expected to advance further, moving towards the northern Arabian Sea and reaching areas from Gujarat to Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Delhi has experienced pre-monsoon showers, resulting in a temperature drop due to strong winds and rainfall. A yellow alert has been issued for Delhi, with light rain and thunderstorms predicted for the evening or night. Rainfall is likely to continue in the capital for the next three days.
**Red Alert Zones**
Based on information from the IMD, two low-pressure areas have developed: one over the southwest of Bangladesh and neighboring Gangetic West Bengal, and another in the Gujarat region. This is expected to cause heavy rainfall in the Gangetic plains of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha over the next two days, leading to a red alert being issued for these states.
**Weather Outlook**

The western Himalayan region, Haryana, Rajasthan, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, Andaman-Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep can expect light to moderate rain and thunderstorms.
