The monsoon season is active across India, bringing heavy rainfall to mountainous regions. Uttarakhand faces significant damage due to cloudbursts, and Himachal Pradesh is under alert. Flooding affects multiple areas in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, while states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, and Odisha experience heavy rainfall.
In contrast, Delhi has seen no rain, with high humidity and heat. Despite forecasts by the Meteorological Department, the city has been dry for three days. The monsoon trough, usually the main driver of rainfall, has shifted north of Delhi.
This situation limits rainfall to the mountains, decreasing chances of significant rain in Delhi. However, the Meteorological Department anticipates light rain or drizzle today. The capital may see continuous rain until the 12th. Light to moderate rain is expected in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Kerala, and Karnataka over the next 24 hours.
From Bengal to Andaman and Nicobar, cloud cover is expected.
Heavy rainfall is possible in some areas within these states. Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh may also experience light to moderate rain, with some areas facing heavy downpours. Light to moderate rain is possible in parts of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan, Goa, Rayalaseema, Lakshadweep, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Central India and Rajasthan could see light rain over the next 6-7 days. The Northeast and surrounding eastern India are expected to continue experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next 7 days. Some areas in Arunachal Pradesh might face extremely heavy rainfall tomorrow, August 8th.
