The monsoon has become active once more throughout Chhattisgarh, bringing with it cooler weather after Thursday’s rainfall. The Meteorological Department anticipates heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in several districts in the upcoming days. A yellow alert has been issued for districts within the Bastar and Surguja divisions. The districts of Raipur, Bilaspur, Balrampur-Ramanujganj, Jashpur, Koriya, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, Surajpur, Sarguja, Korba, Balrampur, Raigarh, Jashpur, Bijapur, and Dantewada are under a yellow alert. An orange alert is in effect for Rajnandgaon, Durg, Bemetara, Kabirdham, and Mungeli, with forecasts of heavy rain, lightning, and strong winds. The monsoon has delivered an average of 994 mm of rainfall so far this year. Balrampur district has recorded the highest rainfall at 1344.5 mm, which is 54% more than average. Bemetara has received the lowest rainfall, at 472 mm, which is 50% below average. The monsoon trough stretches from Sri Ganganagar to the Bay of Bengal, and a cyclonic circulation over Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh is also influencing the weather patterns.
