A brutal incident unfolded in Jhabdi village, under the jurisdiction of the Kasdol police station, where a young man was murdered with a sharp weapon following a clash between two rival groups. The situation further deteriorated when villagers turned on the police, throwing stones at law enforcement officers as they attempted to make arrests.
The violence stemmed from an ongoing dispute between residents of Jhabdi and Madkada villages. The conflict involved individuals like Nanu (Trilokchand Kaushik) from Jhabdi and Lucky Kewat and Ajay Kewat from Madkada, fueled by prior grievances. Despite official complaints lodged with the authorities, the unresolved nature of these issues contributed to the escalating tensions.
The fatal attack occurred on Sunday evening near Madkada village. Nanu and his companion, Hemchandra, were ambushed and attacked with a sharp weapon. Nanu succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while Hemchandra suffered severe wounds and was subsequently transferred to Raipur for medical attention.
In the wake of the murder, as police moved to arrest the suspects in Madkada village, they faced a hostile reaction. The villagers encircled the police vehicle and began throwing stones. The incident prompted the deployment of additional police personnel, including ASP Abhishek Singh, the SDM, and the Kasdol SDOP. Two official vehicles were damaged during the stone-pelting. After a considerable effort, the police apprehended Ajay Kewat and Lucky Kewat. Extra security measures have been put in place in the village.
