The incident happened in the Tanera village, which falls under the Pasān range within the Katghora block. The victim, Dhan Singh God, aged 35, was a farmer. The fatal encounter occurred on Sunday night. The elephant entered the village, and tragically, Dhan Singh God was caught in its path and was trampled. Villagers rushed to the scene after hearing the news and promptly informed the Forest Department. Forest officials arrived and provided immediate financial aid of ₹25,000 to the family as per state government protocols. The authorities also advised the villagers to exercise caution. Furthermore, the Forest Department has appealed to the villagers not to enter the forest area. This incident is one of many in Korba, where elephants have been wreaking havoc, damaging crops, and destroying homes.
