During a visit to Mainpat in Surguja district, Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai participated in the unveiling of a new Buddha statue and announced significant investments in local infrastructure. The event highlighted the state’s embrace of Buddhist values of love, peace, and compassion. CM Sai emphasized the depth of Buddhist traditions in Chhattisgarh, connecting the state’s developmental goals with the core tenets of Buddhism.
He thanked the Tibetan community for the invitation and acknowledged the many places in Chhattisgarh that honor Lord Buddha. He cited Sirpur as a prime example of the state’s diverse culture, where Buddhist, Jain, and Sanatan traditions coexist harmoniously.
Speaking about the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday, CM Sai described him as a living embodiment of Buddhist principles, whose message offers renewed hope and positivity. He noted the global recognition of the Dalai Lama, with birthday wishes coming from world leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Recognizing Mainpat’s potential for tourism, the Chief Minister stated that the government is dedicated to its holistic development. He mentioned that the state’s new industrial policy prioritizes tourism, offering incentives to those who establish homestays in areas like Mainpat.
Addressing requests from the Tibetan Cooperative Society, CM Sai approved Rs 10 lakh for a CC road linking Sela Resort and the Buddhist temple, and Rs 20 lakh for a shed at the ancient temple. The event also included a tree planting initiative and a warm reception for the Chief Minister, reflecting Tibetan customs.
