Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district has witnessed a notable success in anti-insurgency efforts with the surrender of 50 Maoist fighters, 32 of whom were women. The surrender ceremony took place at the Border Security Force’s Kamtera camp, located under the Koyalibeda police station. Key figures among the surrendering cadres included senior commanders Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam, alongside five DVCM-rank and 21 ACM-level Maoists. The group relinquished 39 firearms, dealing a significant blow to Maoist operations in the strategically important Maad region. This event represents the first major surrender from the northern part of Maad, and authorities are preparing for a larger group of approximately 120 Maoists to surrender in Bijapur within the next day. Enhanced outreach programs are underway to facilitate further surrenders and reintegration into mainstream society.
