A Jagdalpur man has been convicted of a deeply disturbing crime, as he was found to have sexually abused his own daughters. The father was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment and fined after a trial spanning one and a half years under the POCSO Act.
The case originated when the children’s mother reported the father’s actions. The accusations included sexual harassment of his daughters, aged 12 and 14, along with threats to their lives. The father’s mother, demonstrating immense courage, reported the incidents to the police, prompting an investigation. The police registered a case under the POCSO Act and other applicable sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The Fast Track Court (FTC) Special Judge, Sangeeta Naveen, presided over the proceedings, which lasted for eighteen months. The court determined that the charges against the father were substantiated and that the offense was severely damaging to both societal and familial well-being. The father was subsequently sentenced to rigorous imprisonment and a financial penalty.
