A meeting of the State Military Board, presided over by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, resulted in significant decisions concerning financial assistance for the families of fallen soldiers and those who have displayed exceptional bravery. The primary outcome of the meeting was the increase in the ex-gratia payment to the wives or dependents of soldiers who died in battle or military operations, from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. Furthermore, recipients of the Param Vir Chakra will now receive Rs 1 crore, a substantial increase from the previous amount of Rs 40 lakh. The meeting, held at the Ministry’s Mahanadi Bhavan, focused on the welfare of veterans, widows, and their families, with various state-run welfare schemes being discussed.
