A grim incident of murder has come to light in Chhatoud village, located in the Tilda-Nevra area of Raipur district. A newlywed, pregnant woman was discovered dead in her room under circumstances that raised suspicion. Following the investigation, the police arrested the woman’s husband and sent him to jail.
The post-mortem examination concluded that the woman’s death was caused by suffocation and was a result of homicide. Given the seriousness of the event, the Deputy Inspector General of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr. Lal Umed Singh, instructed a thorough investigation. The team, including Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kirtan Rathore, City Superintendent of Police (Vidhan Sabha) Virendra Chaturvedi, and Tilda-Nevra Police Station In-charge Inspector Ramakant Tiwari, successfully apprehended the unidentified accused within a day.
The investigation identified the murderer as Pradum Nirmalkar, the husband of the deceased, Suruj Nirmalkar. The motive behind the murder, as revealed by the accused, is disturbing. Pradum Nirmalkar stated that he killed his wife because she declined to engage in sexual relations due to physical ailments.
