Historic decision for sugarcane farmers of Kawardha
Bhoramdev Sugar Factory will now also give membership to non-shareholder farmers
Raipur, September 29, 2025 / For a long time, demands were being made by Chief Minister Sushasan Tihar, Jan Darshan, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh and other organizations to make non-shareholder farmers members. Therefore, the farmers who have given sugarcane in the last crushing season will be given membership. Along with this, according to the survey in the upcoming crushing season, the sugarcane farmers who will supply sugarcane according to the requirement of the factory, will also be given membership next year.
A historic gift has been received for the sugarcane farmers of Kawardha district. Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Producer Factory is now going to give membership to non-shareholder farmers as well. Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Producer Factory Limited Kawardha has taken a historic decision to give membership to non-shareholder farmers who supply sugarcane in the upcoming crushing season 2025-26 in the coming year. According to the decision, membership will also be provided to non-shareholder farmers who provide sugarcane. This will give all sugarcane farmers equal status and the factory’s sugarcane supply will be stable and assured.
This step is in the interest of the farmers and it will give a new direction to the cooperative movement in the region. Bhoramdev Sugar Factory was registered on April 03, 2001 and currently its capacity is 3500 metric tons per day. At the time of establishment, a minimum share amount of Rs 2000 and an entry fee of Rs 100 were fixed. Currently, there are 23,476 shareholder members, out of which only about 12,500-13,000 farmers supply sugarcane every year. The factory requires four and a half lakh metric tonnes of sugarcane to meet the crushing target, but last year the factory had to be closed prematurely due to insufficient sugarcane supply.
The Board of Directors has taken the decision to accept this demand of the farmers that now in future, non-shareholder farmers who supply sugarcane will also be given membership of the factory. The factory management says that this decision will not only stabilize the sugarcane supply but will also strengthen the trust of the farmers. The farmers have welcomed this decision and have called it a new chapter for sugarcane producers.
