Chhattisgarh’s big achievement in the direction of Sustainable Development Goals
State Policy Commission released District Progress Report 2024
Raipur, September 09, 2025/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai today released the “Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) State and District Progress Report 2024” prepared by the State Policy Commission, Chhattisgarh, during the cabinet meeting held at the Ministry located in Nava Raipur. All the members of the Council of Ministers were present on this occasion.
This report is based on the data of the year 2023-24, in which the progress made towards the Sustainable Development Goals at the state and district level has been evaluated. The report states that the composite score of the state in the year 2023 was 69, which increased to 70 in 2024. This achievement reflects positive progress in the direction of sustainable development of Chhattisgarh.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that the Chhattisgarh government is fully committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. This report is proof of the fact that the efforts being made at the state and district level are moving in the right direction. He said that by giving special emphasis on major areas like education, health, nutrition, sanitation, energy and logistics, the Sustainable Development Goals will be given more momentum.
Planning, Economics and Statistics Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary said that this report prepared by the State Policy Commission is not only important for better implementation of policies, but it also presents a clear picture of the work being done at the district level. He said that this report will prove to be a guide for policy decisions and plans in the coming years.
Vice-Chairman and Chief Secretary of the State Policy Commission, Shri Amitabh Jain said that this assessment of SDG performance at the district level is an important basis for policy making and effective implementation of plans. The commission’s endeavor is to provide necessary support and direction to each district according to its strengths and challenges. He expressed confidence that in the coming years, Chhattisgarh will be established as a model among other states at the national level.
It is noteworthy that according to the report, the score and ranking of each district has been decided on the basis of 82 indicators. The districts have been classified into four categories—Aspirer, Performer, Front Runner and Achiever. In the year 2024, 28 districts of the state were included in the Front Runner category, while 5 districts came in the Performer category. Dhamtari district maintained its position in the Achiever category this year as well, like last year. 12 districts recorded an increase in their scores, while 10 districts maintained their scores.
At the state level, 275 indicators were evaluated under 16 Sustainable Development Goals, out of which 40 indicators have achieved their set 2030 targets by the year 2024 itself. This achievement is going to give a new गति to the development journey of the state. It is estimated that the targets of 83 indicators will also be achieved in the next two to three years.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri P. Dayanand, Shri Mukesh Bansal, Secretary, Department of Economics and Statistics Shri Ankit Anand, Member Secretary, State Policy Commission Shri Ashish Bhatt and Member Dr. K. Subrahmanyam were present.
