Raipur, July 23, 2025/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has said that the goals of Viksit Bharat @2047 can be realized only when the empowerment of every section of the society, especially the disabled, is ensured. Chief Minister Shri Sai said today in a high-level review meeting of the Social Welfare Department at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan that the need of the hour is to make 100% of the disabled skilled, so that they can become self-reliant. He directed the officers to prepare an action plan in this direction and ensure its quick implementation.
In the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Sai directed to expedite the disposal of pending pension cases of the elderly and the disabled. He said that this work should be given priority with a sense of service so that eligible beneficiaries can get their rights on time. The Chief Minister made it clear that negligence at any level in the welfare of the elderly, disabled and destitute will not be tolerated.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the arrangements of old age homes, grant-receiving disabled institutions and rehabilitation centers should be made systematic and strengthened. By making the disabled skilled according to their interest and ability, training should be provided in various trades under the Chief Minister Skill Development Scheme. This will enable them to connect with self-employment opportunities and play an active role in the society.
Social Welfare Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade said in the meeting that if homeless, destitute, nomadic, disabled, children and women found in public places need rehabilitation, then a concrete arrangement should be ensured to take them to rehabilitation centers immediately. She said that while physically verifying various pension cases, the eligible beneficiaries should be given the benefit of pension on priority basis. Along with this, wide publicity of the departmental helpline number should be done so that more and more people can benefit from it.
Chief Minister Shri Sai directed to expedite the process of registration of the third gender community and to benefit them from ration cards, Ayushman cards and other departmental schemes. He also directed to expedite the process of UDID registration and issuance of certificates from the medical board by organizing camps for the disabled.
The Chief Minister said that whoever needy children, women, youth or elderly are struggling with the needs like artificial limbs, crutches, hearing aids, tricycles or physiotherapy, they should be provided the relevant equipment immediately. It should be the commitment of the government that no needy person should be without support.
A detailed review of various schemes of the Social Welfare Department including Artificial Limb and Assistive Device Supply Scheme, Samarthya Vikas Yojana, Disabled Persons Marriage Promotion Scheme, National Disabled Rehabilitation Program, various pension schemes was done in the review meeting. The progress report of the implementation of all the schemes was presented and the future action plan was discussed.
Officials informed that a total of 137 special health camps for the disabled were organized across the state in the last one year. Through these camps, the health check-up of 7669 disabled persons was done, out of which 6671 persons were provided with artificial limbs and assistive devices. This has infused hope and confidence in their lives.
Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri P. Dayanand and Shri Rahul Bhagat, Social Welfare Secretary Shri Bhuvanesh Yadav, Director Smt. Roktima Yadav and senior officers of the Social Welfare Department were present in the meeting.
