The Trimurti Ganesh Utsav Samiti in Rajnandgaon has once again established a Ganesh idol with a social message alongside the celebrations. This year’s focus is on fighting child labor through the promotion of education.
Located in Shankarpur, Ward Number 7, the Ganesh Pandal features Lord Ganesha holding a book amidst children, symbolizing the importance of education. Other installations within the pandal highlight the detrimental effects of child labor and the progress that education brings. The core message is that education paves the way for a brighter future. A unique aspect of the display shows two sides of the same idol – one representing life with education and the other depicting life without it. The backdrop features Hindi and English alphabets, further emphasizing the message. The Ganesh Utsav Samiti utilizes flex banners to actively discourage child labor and encourage the education of children.
In the previous year, the pandal promoted environmental awareness, drawing attention to deforestation through religious themes. This year’s focus on child labor stems from the growing concern about children being denied access to education. Lord Ganesha, embodying knowledge and wisdom, delivers this message through the pandal.
The Trimurti Ganesh Utsav Samiti has been conducting these Ganesh idol installations for approximately 30 years. The committee is mainly composed of young individuals who aim to convey messages of social welfare through their chosen themes. According to committee president Ravi Jagne, the combination of faith and social messaging resonates deeply with people, which is why the committee consistently strives to install message-driven idols.
