State-of-the-art NIELIT Center to be Established in Naya Raipur
Raipur, April 30, 2025/ The Chhattisgarh government has taken a significant decision to empower technical education in the state and equip the youth with digital skills. In the Council of Ministers meeting held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the establishment of a state-of-the-art center of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) in Naya Raipur Atal Nagar was approved. The Council of Ministers also approved the proposal to allot 10.023 acres of land free of cost for the establishment of this institute. This decision will prove to be the foundation stone of the state’s digital future.
NIELIT, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Information and Technology, Government of India, has recently been granted the status of a Deemed University. The institute had requested land for establishing a permanent center in Chhattisgarh, with the aim of promoting quality education and training in the fields of electronics, information technology, and digital skills in the state.
In view of this demand, 10.023 acres of land have been identified by the Naya Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority in the Layer-2 area of village Tendua, which will be leased to NIELIT. The reimbursement for this will be made to the Authority by the State Government.
The establishment of this state-of-the-art institute will give new impetus to technical education, digital skill development, and employment opportunities in Chhattisgarh. This center will not only provide modern technical knowledge to the youth, but will also empower the state’s digital ecosystem by making them employable. In addition, Chhattisgarh will emerge as an influential center on the national technical education map.
Notably, several institutions of national importance, such as IIM, IIIT, and National Law University, are already established in Naya Raipur. Recently, the establishment of the National Institute of Fashion Design has also been approved by the Council of Ministers.
