Solar power plants built on the roof
Raipur, August 14, 2025/ Work is progressing rapidly in Chhattisgarh under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Since Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai announced a subsidy of thirty thousand rupees by the state government in this scheme, people are applying rapidly to get solar plants installed. Shri Pradeep Mishra, a resident of Lochan Nagar, Raigarh, is not only reducing the electricity consumption of his house by taking advantage of this ambitious scheme, but is also making a commendable contribution to environmental protection. By installing a solar power plant on the roof of his house, the electricity bill of Shri Mishra’s house has been halved. Once the plant is installed, there is no worry about its maintenance, repair or maintenance.
Shri Mishra has installed a 3-kilowatt capacity solar rooftop panel on the roof of his house. Earlier, he had limited knowledge about solar energy, but after getting information about the scheme from the electricity department, he got this system installed with the technical assistance of the department. He took a loan from a rural bank for the total cost, in which he received a subsidy of ₹78,000 from the central government and ₹30,000 from the state government. He said that his electricity bill has come down since the installation of solar panels. Earlier, about 550 units of electricity were consumed per month, but in the month of August, it is estimated to be around 300 units.
Shri Mishra said that this scheme not only saves money, but also reduces environmental pollution by using clean energy. Shri Mishra also appealed to other citizens of the district to take advantage of the Prime Minister’s Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Under the scheme, different subsidies are given by the government on solar panels of various capacities and quick installation is done with the help of the electricity department. The benefit of this scheme is being given to the consumers under a completely online process.
