In a grim development from Dhamtari, a wife’s suicide has been attributed to the persistent suspicion and distrust within her marriage. The couple’s relationship had been strained for several years because of these issues, ultimately resulting in the woman taking her own life. The tragic event unfolded in the Baniyapara ward under the purview of the Kotwali police station. The couple, who were originally from Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, were working as laborers in the area. The deceased, Surekha Ahuja, and her husband were employed at a grocery store in the Jalamapur ward and lived in rented housing. They had been married for roughly a decade, but the last two years were significantly impacted by growing suspicion between them. Frequent disagreements and a lack of trust had become common between the pair, creating a stressful environment. On Friday, Surekha was found dead, having hanged herself with a chunari. The Kotwali police responded to the scene promptly and transported the body to the district hospital for a post-mortem. The police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
