An extraordinary scene unfolded in Puvarti village, Sukma district, where CRPF personnel, deployed for security, participated wholeheartedly in a wedding. The soldiers took on the role of the bride’s brothers, giving her gifts and joining the wedding celebrations with the villagers. This village, considered the home of the infamous Naxal commander Hidma, witnessed a touching display of brotherhood. The wedding took place with security provided by the 150th Battalion. As the bride prepared to leave, villagers escorted her to the CRPF camp to meet the soldiers. The CRPF officers and jawans expressed their emotions, blessed the bride, gave her gifts, and joined in the dancing and singing, sharing the joy of the wedding with the entire village. This event reflects humanity, peace, trust, and change, as the region experiences a shift away from the long-standing influence of Naxalism. The governments’ efforts towards peace and development have resulted in such examples of trust-building. The wedding in Puvarti represents a historical moment where trust is built where hatred once prevailed.
