Raipur, August 12, 2025/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai honored the Swachhta Didis who made a significant contribution in making the cities clean and beautiful by washing their feet at ‘Swachhta Sangam’ today. In this program organized at the Bahatarai Indoor Stadium in Bilaspur, the urban bodies that performed excellently in Swachh Survekshan-2024-25 were also honored. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao presided over the program organized by the Department of Urban Administration and Development.
Chief Minister Shri Sai also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development works costing more than Rs 260 crore in the program. He announced that an amount of one crore rupees would be given to the urban body that secures the first position at the national level in cleanliness, 50 lakh rupees to the one that secures the second position and 25 lakh rupees to the one that secures the third position. On this occasion, MLAs Shri Dharamlal Kaushik, Shri Amar Agarwal, Shri Dharmjit Singh, Shri Dilip Laharia and Shri Sushant Shukla, Mayor of Bilaspur Smt. Pooja Vidhani, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Text Book Corporation Shri Raja Pandey, Chairman of KREDA Shri Bhupendra Savanni and District Panchayat President Shri Rajesh Suryavanshi, along with many public representatives, were present at ‘Swachhta Sangam-2025’.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, congratulating the Urban Administration Department for the successful organization of ‘Swachhta Sangam’, said that the contribution of our cleaning sisters in the field of cleanliness is unparalleled, and today we have honored them by washing their feet. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had started the Swachh Bharat Mission in the year 2014. Since then, we have been continuously moving forward in the field of cleanliness and achieving new achievements and Chhattisgarh has achieved remarkable success in this direction. These achievements inspire us to move forward.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that various innovations are being implemented by the Urban Administration Department for the convenience of the citizens. He appealed for public participation to hoist the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ on Independence Day and to make the state clean and beautiful.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said that today is a proud day in the history of Chhattisgarh. The Prime Minister took up the cause of cleanliness in 2014 and today it has taken the form of a mass movement. Progressing in cleanliness, we have created a new identity at the national level and received awards from the President and the Prime Minister. It is a matter of pride that our urban bodies have received six awards at the national level. Raipur Municipal Corporation has received a seven-star rating in Garbage-Free City. Out of the cities with a population of less than 20 thousand, 58 cities of Chhattisgarh alone have received a three-star rating. Our cities have also achieved significant achievements in source segregation and waste management. Work is being done rapidly in Chhattisgarh on all parameters of cleanliness. Our aim is that our cities should become clean, beautiful and convenient and cleanliness should become the identity of Chhattisgarh.
Secretary of Urban Administration and Development Department Dr. Basavaraju S. said that 115 cities of the state have made remarkable improvements in their rankings in Swachh Survekshan-2024-25. Seven urban bodies that performed excellently in Swachh Survekshan have been honored with the honor of being awarded by the President Smt. Draupadi Murmu in New Delhi. Along with these urban bodies, more than 30 urban bodies that performed excellently at the division level were also honored in the program.
*Chief Minister launched the online portal for depositing property tax*
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai launched the GIS-based Property Tax Live Portal for online property tax collection in three municipal corporations—Birgaon, Bhilai-Charoda and Dhamtari—and 43 municipalities. This facility of online property tax payment in 46 cities simultaneously is an important step towards modernizing local self-governance and providing services to the citizens at home. This will also speed up tax collection.
In ‘Swachhta Sangam’, the state-level competition was also launched to raise the standards of cleanliness and urban beautification in urban bodies. The Chief Minister inaugurated the video based on Swachh Survekshan-2024-25 by pressing the button of the remote.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development works costing more than Rs 260 crore in ‘Swachhta Sangam’. He inaugurated 24 construction and development works of various departments in Bilaspur district at a cost of Rs 63 crore 57 lakh and also laid the foundation stone of 25 works costing more than Rs 197 crore.
On this occasion, Divisional Commissioner Shri Sunil Jain, Inspector General of Police Shri Sanjeev Shukla, Collector Shri Sanjay Agarwal, Superintendent of Police Shri Rajnesh Singh, Mayors of all urban bodies, Chairman, Municipal and Nagar Panchayat Presidents, Vice Presidents, Corporation Commissioners, Chief Municipal Officers, Senior Engineers of urban bodies, Swachhta Didis and Swachhta Commandos were present in large numbers.
