After a trip to Delhi where he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has indicated that a cabinet expansion is not immediately imminent. Returning to Raipur on Saturday, Sai stated that the expansion would be undertaken “as and when the time comes.”
During a press conference at the airport, CM Sai shared that the discussion with PM Modi focused on the current state of Chhattisgarh. He expressed his satisfaction in presenting the evolving picture of the state to the Prime Minister. The talks also covered key projects such as the Bodhghat initiative and plans for river interlinking, which, he said, would enable irrigation across a considerable area and generate a substantial amount of electricity. The Bodhghat project alone is expected to produce 125 MW.
CM Sai also briefed PM Modi on the ongoing efforts of the state’s forces in countering Naxalism. He added that PM Modi offered his congratulations on the fight against Naxalism and that he, in turn, congratulated on Operation Sindoor. Regarding the cabinet expansion, CM Sai kept his cards close to his chest, only saying it would be addressed at the appropriate time.
The cabinet currently has two vacant positions, following the resignation of MP Brijmohan Agrawal from his positions as a cabinet minister and MLA during the Lok Sabha elections. Before his resignation, Agrawal was in charge of the education department, which is now being overseen by CM Sai.
