Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai Inaugurates Newly Constructed Social Building of Mahara Samaj: Social Building Built at a Cost of Rs 1.63 Crore
Chief Minister Sai highlighted the glorious history of the Mahara Samaj, including the contributions of Jagtu Mahara and Dharamu Mahara.
Raipur, September 21, 2025 / Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai inaugurated the newly constructed social building of the Mahara Samaj in Guru Gobind Singh Ward of Jagdalpur today, built at a cost of Rs 1.63 crore.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai was given a grand welcome with the traditional Mohari Baja. Members of the Mahara Samaj enthusiastically honored Chief Minister Shri Sai by presenting him with the traditional Mahara Pata. Chief Minister Shri Sai inaugurated the building by cutting the ribbon and expressed his gratitude to the society for the invitation and warm welcome on this historic moment.
In his address, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai remembered the glorious history of the Mahara Samaj. He said that Jagdalpur was established by Jagtu Mahara and Dharampura was established by Dharamu Mahara. He especially highlighted the active role of the society in movements like Bhumkal and the struggle against the oppressive policies of the British.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the Mahara Samaj has been given the status of Scheduled Caste due to the efforts of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah. This historic decision will provide great opportunities to the youth of the society in the fields of education and employment and their future will be bright.
Chief Minister Shri Sai, while mentioning the welfare schemes of the central and state governments, said that the main goal of Prime Minister Shri Modi is the welfare of the poor and the economic development of farmers. He informed that 18 lakh houses have been approved in the state so far. 21 quintals of paddy per acre is being purchased from the farmers, for which Rs 3100 per quintal is being paid.
Emphasizing on providing employment to the youth, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that a new industrial policy has been made in the state, so that more and more youth get jobs and self-employment can also be promoted. He said that the government is working rapidly for the complete eradication of Naxalites, so that development works like construction of roads, supply of electricity and establishment of mobile towers can proceed smoothly in the affected areas and people can get the benefit of public welfare schemes along with basic facilities. He said that the Niyad Nellanar scheme is proving to be far-reaching in this direction.
In the program, Divisional President of Mahara Samaj, Shri Raju Baghel, gave the welcome address. Shanti Nag read the report and Shri Bichhem Pondi, the संरक्षक of the society, expressed gratitude.
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, MP Shri Mahesh Kashyap, Jagdalpur MLA Shri Kiran Singh Deo also expressed their views.
