Mahasamund’s Navleen Kaur secured a place in archery at the National Games, won a gold medal in the state level competition
Raipur, July 22, 2025/ The state government is working with commitment to recognize and promote sports talents. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai has said that every player of Chhattisgarh will be provided opportunities, resources and a platform according to their hard work, dedication and ability. He congratulated and wished the budding archer of Mahasamund district, Navleen Kaur, on securing a place in archery in the upcoming national games. The Chief Minister said that players like Navleen are the foundation of the future of Chhattisgarh and the government will provide all possible assistance to hone them at every level of the game.
Navleen, who has been battling health challenges since birth, turned it into her strength and chose sports as her life path. She proved by winning a gold medal in the state level competition in February 2025 that no obstacle is big in front of willpower and hard work.
Navleen Kaur, a resident of Bagbahra in Mahasamund district, is the daughter of Shri Arvind and Smt. Ranjit Kaur Chhabra. She was born in the seventh month of pregnancy, which led to many health problems in the early years. Neighbors, relatives and acquaintances always used to ask about her health, which sometimes made her sad. But Navleen accepted this curiosity as a challenge and molded herself in a new direction.
In the year 2018, Navleen started archery training at Bihajhar Balashram, located about five kilometers away from Bagbahra. She became the first female archer of Mahasamund district. During her school education, she won medals in state level competitions twice and secured fourth position in a national level school archery competition once. In the year 2023, she represented Chhattisgarh in the FGFI National Archery Competition held in Gujarat and secured second position in the state level senior archery competition.
Navleen’s goal is to win a medal by representing India at the international level. She said that compound bows are used in international competitions, for which her family members have provided her with a new modern compound bow. She has made a शानदार start by securing first position in the compound round girls category in the City Open Archery Competition. Currently, Navleen is learning the tricks of archery from coach Shri Awan Sahu and sports officer Shri Manoj Dhritlahre.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said that in this era of popularity of cricket, if a player is working hard in a specific sport like archery and is working towards bringing medals for the state and the country, then it is not only commendable but also inspiring. Talents like Navleen give this message to the youth of Chhattisgarh that any goal can be achieved with commitment, practice and self-confidence.
