Raipur, June 18, 2025/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai will launch the Charan Paduka distribution scheme statewide in a grand and भव्य program organized in Tapkara, Jashpur district on June 21. On this occasion, the Chief Minister will provide Charan Paduka to the women of the tendu leaf collector families. Along with this, another promise made by the Chhattisgarh government to the tendu leaf collectors of the state will be fulfilled.
It is noteworthy that the Chhattisgarh government had promised to restart the Charan Paduka scheme in its resolution letter, which was discontinued by the previous government. This scheme, which is being restarted by the sensitive government of Chhattisgarh, is an important initiative towards ensuring the dignity and convenience of the tendu leaf collector families of the state. The government has approved Rs 40 crore for the implementation of this scheme. This scheme will directly benefit the women of 12 lakh 40 thousand tendu leaf collector families of the state, who will be provided free distribution of Charan Paduka.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that the priority of our government is always to deliver justice and convenience to the person in the last row. The tendu leaf collector families have an invaluable contribution to the state’s economy and forest produce-based livelihood. The Charan Paduka scheme was a promise of our resolution letter, which we are going to fulfill. This is not just the distribution of Charan Paduka, but a symbol of the self-respect and security of the collector family.
The launch of the Charan Paduka distribution scheme is proof that the Chhattisgarh government is taking care of the needs, respect and dignity of the tendu leaf collector families. The objective of this scheme is not only to honor the women of the tendu leaf collector family, but also to ensure the convenience of the collector women working in difficult geographical conditions.
745 crore rupees of tendu leaf purchase
The work of tendu leaf collection in Chhattisgarh state this year started from the third week of April, which has now been completed successfully. The work of collection was done in 10,631 fads through 902 primary minor forest produce cooperative societies of the state. Although the crop was affected due to untimely rain, storms and hailstorms this year, but despite this, more than 11.40 lakh tendu leaf collector families collected and sold 13.54 lakh standard bori of tendu leaf with their dedication and hard work, the total purchase price of which is 745 crore rupees. Payment of this amount is being made to the collectors through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system in their bank accounts. So far, an amount of more than 300 crore rupees has been transferred directly to the accounts of the collectors, the process of payment of the remaining amount is going on.
