Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai reviewed flood, disaster and relief works during his visit to Dantewada district today at the Dakhni meeting room of the district office. Collectors and senior officers of Sukma, Bijapur and Bastar districts of Bastar division apart from Dantewada participated in this meeting. In the meeting, State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Shri Tankram Verma, Forest Minister and Minister in-charge of the district Shri Kedar Kashyap, Bastar MP Shri Mahesh Kashyap, Regional MLA Shri Chaitram Atami and District Panchayat President Shri Nandlal Mudami were also present.
Chief Minister Shri Sai took information about the loss caused by the heavy rains on August 26 and 27 and the relief works carried out by the administration through the meeting. Addressing the officers, he said that swift action was taken by the administrative staff during this natural disaster, which is commendable. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that it was clear from the discussion with the villagers of the affected area that they are satisfied with the administrative promptness and quick action.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the loss of life, property and infrastructure caused by this natural disaster and the devastation in the past month is irreparable. It is a matter of satisfaction that the district administration has taken steps for immediate rescue and relief work. Along with this, government officers and employees donated one day’s salary, which is exemplary. He said that due to the flood disaster on a large scale in this area, various infrastructures of Rs 115 crore have been damaged in all the four districts. The state government will provide all possible assistance for their repair. The Chief Minister also appreciated the work of non-governmental and voluntary organizations.
The Chief Minister directed all the officers in the meeting to continue relief and health camps as required until the situation returns to normal in all the four districts. He said that the administration should remain in constant contact with the affected people and continue health services in the flood affected areas. For this, health check-ups of the villagers should be done by setting up camps continuously and necessary medicines and health services should be made available to them immediately while giving them contemporary advice. The Chief Minister also directed all the collectors to release the relief amount immediately.
In the meeting, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Kumar Singh directed that traffic on the National Highway should not be disrupted. For this, the Executive Engineer should immediately send a proposal to the Central Office. Along with this, instructions were given to take immediate action for the improvement work of the National Highway in Keshkal.
During this, Secretary Disaster Management Smt. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale directed the collectors to give allocation as per the new instructions for the amount of compensation to be given for the loss of animals. Director of Health Department Dr. Priyanka Shukla said that the Health Department should conduct a door-to-door survey in the flood affected areas continuously. Along with this, health officials should ensure that malaria, typhoid and waterborne diseases do not spread in these areas. He instructed the concerned officers to carry out chlorination in all the sources of drinking water and test it.
Earlier, the collectors of Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur and Bastar districts gave information about the damage caused by the floods and the relief works carried out by the district administration as per the agenda. In the meeting, the affected villages, damaged bridges, roads, disrupted electricity supply and mobile network status were presented. Along with this, numerical and factual data about loss of life and property, houses and animals washed away in the floods were shared through PPT.
Apart from this, information was also given about the relief and rescue work carried out by the district administration, rescuing the affected people and accommodating them in relief camps, providing immediate treatment and distributing food items. It was told that the residents of the villages located on the banks of rivers and drains suffered the most damage, but administrative relief was provided on time.
Divisional Commissioner of Bastar Division Shri Doman Singh, IG Bastar Shri Sundarraj P, Dantewada Collector Shri Kunal Dudawat, Sukma Collector Shri Devesh Dhruv, Bijapur Collector Shri Sambit Mishra, CEO of District Panchayat Bastar Shri Prateek Jain along with SP and district level officers were present in the meeting.
