Raipur, May 14, 2025/In the tribal-dominated state of Chhattisgarh, the state government has taken an innovative initiative to bring tribal culture, civilization, and their way of life to the general public by creating a Tribal Museum. For this, a grand and attractive Tribal Museum has been built in Naya Raipur Atal Nagar on an area of approximately 10 acres. The state’s first Tribal Museum was inaugurated today by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.

At the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Shri Sai first entered the newly constructed Tribal Museum after performing door puja and breaking a coconut at the main gate, in accordance with tribal tradition. Then, in the entrance gallery, he offered prayers to the Panchtatva (five elements) and nature’s power, wishing for auspiciousness. Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Dr. Raman Singh, and Tribal Caste Development Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam were present on this occasion.

In his address, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai thanked the creator of Chhattisgarh, the then Prime Minister, late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, saying that Atal Ji created Chhattisgarh as a separate state, keeping in mind the tribal-dominated area. It was during Atal Ji’s tenure that the Ministry of Tribal Welfare was formed in the Central Government for tribal development. At the same time, the successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has implemented the Dharti Aba Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan and the PM Janman Yojana for the particularly backward tribal groups for the comprehensive development of tribals.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that today, in India, a member of the tribal community, Smt. Draupadi Murmu, is adorning the highest post of President.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the special identity of our Chhattisgarh state is its beautiful tribal culture. There is diversity in the tribal culture of Chhattisgarh and every tribal community has its own distinct identity. There are 43 tribal communities in the state and they have many sub-castes. Along with this, we also have particularly backward tribes in our state. The beautiful world of the tribal community, their food, clothing, music, folk art, musical instruments, dance, all these will be reflected in the museum. It has 14 galleries and each gallery is built on a special theme.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that this museum will not only preserve the traditions, art, and culture of the tribal society, but will also play an important role in connecting the younger generation with their roots. The lifestyle, costumes, folk art, customs, and religious beliefs of the various tribal communities of Chhattisgarh have been depicted in the museum through visual and digital mediums.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that this museum showcases a glimpse of the colorful culture of our tribal areas. This glimpse will inspire the visitors to visit Bastar and Surguja and see directly the things they have experienced in this museum.

Presiding over the inauguration ceremony of the Tribal Museum, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Dr. Raman Singh, called the launch of the Tribal Museum a moment of pride. He said that the Tribal Museum has been constructed to showcase the tribal culture and their way of life in a tribal-dominated state.
