Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai commended the ‘More Village, More Water’ campaign, releasing a commemorative booklet highlighting its achievements. The initiative, launched on Panchayati Raj Day, has significantly boosted water conservation efforts. The release event saw the presence of key officials including Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma and senior bureaucrats.
Sai emphasized that the campaign has become a community-driven movement thanks to the proactive involvement of gram panchayats and voluntary citizen participation. The booklet showcases exemplary water conservation projects undertaken by various panchayats, intended to inspire others. Public awareness is being enhanced through IEC activities; groundwater levels are now displayed on over 11,000 panchayat buildings, raising public consciousness about water conservation.
The Chief Minister recognized the essential role of gram panchayats in fostering public involvement in water conservation. The campaign uses rallies and wall paintings to engage the public. Trainings across 626 clusters have educated more than 56,000 participants on water management.
GIS technology aids project planning, while the Jaldoot app measures water levels in open wells. Water recharge and conservation efforts include percolation tanks and recharge structures. These community efforts aim to position Chhattisgarh as a leading example of water conservation nationwide.
