A recent Chhattisgarh Cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, resulted in a series of significant decisions impacting various sectors. A key focus was on bolstering the agricultural sector. Modifications to the Krishak Unnati Yojana will now extend benefits to farmers who opt to cultivate pulses, oilseeds, and maize, in place of paddy, for the Kharif 2025 season. This is in addition to the existing support for paddy farmers.
Farmers who participated in the Kharif 2024 paddy program and sold their produce at the minimum support price will also be eligible for assistance under the revised scheme if they choose to cultivate alternative crops like pulses and oilseeds in Kharif 2025.
The Cabinet also approved the formation of the Chhattisgarh Pension Fund and its management, through the Chhattisgarh Pension Fund Formation and its Management and Regulation Bill-2025, to improve financial management for future pension obligations of government employees.
To foster long-term economic stability, the Chhattisgarh Growth and Stability Fund Formation and its Management and Regulation Bill-2025 was approved. This fund is designed to manage fluctuations in state revenue and provide financial safeguards during economic downturns.
A major initiative is the Chhattisgarh State Logistics Policy-2025, aimed at transforming the state into a logistics hub. The policy will strengthen export infrastructure and attract investment from logistics and e-commerce companies. The strategic location of Chhattisgarh is being leveraged to enhance storage capacity, benefiting industries, traders, and farmers through affordable storage solutions.
The policy encourages the establishment of dry ports and inland container depots to facilitate access to export markets for small and medium-sized enterprises. Additionally, it will support the export of forest resources and medicinal plants, creating a favorable ecosystem. This initiative is expected to generate employment opportunities and position the state as a leader in logistics and exports.
To streamline business and reduce legal burdens, the Cabinet also approved the Chhattisgarh Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill-2025, which seeks to decriminalize certain provisions of state laws. Furthermore, the Cabinet greenlit the redevelopment of seven dilapidated government properties and unused land parcels across the state, including sites in Raipur, Rajnandgaon, Jagdalpur, Kanker, Mahasamund, and Korba.
In a move related to departmental promotions, the minimum qualifying service period for promotions within the Commercial Tax (Registration) Department has been temporarily reduced, providing opportunities for employees to advance.
