A gang rape case has been reported in Kapu, Raigarh district, following a similar incident in Pusaur. Two individuals are accused of abducting a married tribal woman from her home, using threats involving a weapon. The victim was held captive and subjected to repeated sexual assault over a period of about a week. The police have taken both suspects into custody based on the woman’s testimony. The offense falls under the purview of the Kapu police station.
The incident dates back to July 21st. The perpetrators, identified as Dhansay Ekka of Dhamnadand Kiriya village and Kamalu Tigga of Bensbudi, are alleged to have threatened the woman with a knife, forcing her from her residence. They then transported her to various locations, including Lailunga and Reruma, where she was allegedly gang-raped multiple times over approximately seven days.
After the assault, the accused released the woman. They also issued threats to the victim and her husband, warning them of severe consequences if the incident were reported to anyone. A village meeting was held to address the matter, and it was decided that the case should be reported to the police given its serious nature. Initially, the victim was hesitant to file a police report due to the fear of the accused.
Eventually, on Saturday, she overcame her fear and filed a complaint at the Kapu police station. ASP Akash Markam confirmed that a case of gang rape had been registered at the Kapu police station. The police have charged the accused under the Arms Act and the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). The investigation based on the complaint led to the arrest of both suspects.
