On August 12, 2025, Bilaspur will be the venue for the Swachhta Sangam-2025, where Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will honor sanitation workers, the ‘Swachhta Didis,’ for their contribution in bringing national recognition to Chhattisgarh. He will also recognize the outstanding performance of urban bodies in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25.
The Swachhta Sangam will host mayors, chairpersons, and health department members from all state municipal corporations, along with presidents, vice-presidents, health department members from municipalities and town councils, municipal commissioners, chief municipal officers, senior engineers, and nodal officers from the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). Approximately nine thousand Swachhta Didis are invited to attend.
The primary objective of the Swachhta Sangam is to promote clean and beautiful cities. Dr. Basavaraju S., Secretary of the Urban Administration and Development Department, highlighted the importance of honoring the Swachhta Didis for their role in city cleanliness and beautification. The event will also acknowledge seven urban bodies that achieved excellent results in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25. More than 30 urban bodies with top performances at the divisional level will also be recognized.
A state-level competition will be launched at the Swachhta Sangam to raise standards in urban sanitation and beautification. This initiative aims to strengthen urban cleanliness, improve administrative efficiency through good governance, and boost urban beautification efforts. It seeks to enhance the quality of life for citizens and encourage civic leaders, officials, and residents to improve their abilities in sanitation and urban beautification.
A GIS-based Property Tax Live Portal will be launched to facilitate online property tax payments in three municipal corporations – Birgaon, Bhilai-Charoda, and Dhamtari – and 43 municipalities. This initiative aims to modernize local governance and make services accessible to citizens at their homes, thereby improving tax collection efficiency.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth over ₹260 crores. These include 24 construction and development projects in Bilaspur district, totaling over ₹63.57 crores, and the foundation laying of 25 projects, worth more than ₹197 crores. Beneficiaries of various schemes will also receive materials and checks.
Among the projects to be inaugurated are a commercial complex in Nutan Chowk, Bilaspur, costing ₹3.85 crores; an STP in Koni, costing ₹9.05 crores; a girls’ hostel for Government Engineering College, costing ₹4.82 crores; a 3.6 km road from Ngoi Basti to Modhe Naka, costing ₹6.29 crores; the widening, strengthening, and asphalting of the 7 km Usalapur-Daija road, costing ₹12.53 crores; and a 3.5 km two-lane road from Mangla Bhainsajhar to Deendayal Colony Lokhandi railway crossing, costing ₹5.45 crores. The Nal-Jal Yojana will also be launched in 11 villages under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The foundation stone will be laid for the construction of the Nalanda complex and academic block under the Education Hub at Dayalband, costing ₹26.42 crores, and the Gaurav Path from Ashok Nagar Chowk to Birkora Mod under the Chief Minister’s Urban Upliftment Scheme, costing ₹17 crores. Additional projects include the Atal Path construction from Arpa Indrasetu to Ram Setu (₹9.74 crores) and the Mangla Chowk to Azad Chowk road construction (₹5.09 crores).
Further, a high-level bridge on the Arpa River on the Shanichari-Chantidih road (₹11.56 crores), a bridge on the Maniyari River between Takhatpur and Barela (₹3.76 crores), and upgrades to the water supply systems in Bahatarai, Rajkishore Nagar, Lingiyadih, Devrikhurd, and Sirgitti (₹9.90 crores) will be inaugurated. Additionally, the strengthening work of the 12.6 km long Butena-Dhaurabhata road (₹34.16 crores), an English medium Adarsh College building (₹10 crores), and an auditorium in Bilaspur (₹22.22 crores) will also be inaugurated.
Other projects include an anicut in Vijaypur (₹6.81 crores), a 2.5 km road construction, including a culvert on the Sarar Nala between Son and Sonsari Sabaridera in Bilaspur district (₹7.96 crores), along with various works from the Municipal Corporation, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Public Works Department, Rural Engineering Service, and Panchayat and Rural Development Department.
