The process of becoming a teacher in Chhattisgarh is set to become more accessible. Students aiming for four-year integrated programs (BA-BEd and BSc-BEd) will now gain admission without taking an entrance exam. Admissions will be based directly on their performance in the 12th-grade exams.
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has submitted a proposal for this change to the government. Counseling is expected to begin in August, allowing students to save a year and bypass the examination process. Traditionally, the two-year B.Ed course was the standard path for aspiring teachers. However, in line with the Ministry of Education’s guidelines, this course will be discontinued from the academic year 2024-25. The focus is now on the four-year integrated programs, aligning with the New Education Policy (NEP).
This new system will facilitate admissions to 6700 seats across 300 colleges in Chhattisgarh. The merit list will be prepared using 12th-grade marks, and colleges will be allotted through counseling sessions.
