Three villagers, including a student, were killed by Naxals in Peddakorma, Chhattisgarh, while seven others sustained severe injuries. The attack, attributed to Naxal leader Vella and his team, has once again instilled fear in the local community. The victims were identified as Jhingu Modium, Soma Modium, and Anil Madvi.
Security forces retrieved the bodies and transported them to the district headquarters in Bijapur for post-mortem procedures. Subsequently, the bodies were released to the families, and the authorities are preparing to register a case against the Naxals, based on the statements provided by the bereaved families.
The incident has prompted inquiries regarding the efficacy of intelligence gathering and operational strategies. The recent elimination of senior Naxal figures in anti-Naxal operations appears to have provoked a retaliatory response from the insurgents, manifesting in these heinous acts.
Concurrently, a large-scale anti-Naxal operation is ongoing along the Andhra Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border. The Greyhounds have made notable gains in Andhra Pradesh. In separate instances, the Chhattisgarh DRG neutralized Naxal leaders in direct combat. Information suggests the potential deaths of Gazrala Ravi, a member of the Andhra Pradesh zonal committee, and Aruna, the wife of deceased Naxal leader Chalapathi, although official verification is still pending.
