Tragedy struck in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district when a man was murdered after an argument stemming from firework use during a birthday celebration. The incident took place in the Mahimasagar ward on Thursday night. The dispute arose when Naresh Kumar, a local resident, asked a group of young men to stop setting off fireworks due to the disturbance caused by the noise.
The youths, identified as Hemant, Dinesh, and Sunil, reacted angrily, leading to an argument that quickly turned violent. The situation briefly calmed down after other residents intervened, but the perpetrators returned and attacked Naresh with a knife, inflicting a fatal chest wound. Naresh was immediately taken to the Dhamtari District Hospital, where he later died.
A video capturing the altercation has surfaced. Police responded swiftly, arresting the three suspects. According to ASP Manishankar Chandra, a case of murder has been filed, and further legal actions are being pursued.
The community is reeling from shock and grief following the incident. The authorities have appealed for calm, urging residents to maintain peace and respect the law.
