In a notable victory for law enforcement, 50 Naxal insurgents, including 32 women, have surrendered in the Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. The surrender ceremony took place at the Kamtera camp, manned by the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion. This significant event involved the handover of 39 weapons, further weakening the Naxal presence in the area.
Among the prominent figures who surrendered were senior Maoist commanders and several high-ranking cadres, including five DVCM-rank individuals and 21 ACM-level members. This coordinated surrender represents a substantial setback for the Maoist movement in the strategically important Maad region. Authorities are optimistic that this success will inspire more cadres to leave the insurgency and return to mainstream life. This development is particularly significant as it is the first major surrender from the northern part of the Maad region. Security forces are intensifying their community outreach programs to facilitate further surrenders, with approximately 120 more cadres expected to surrender in Bijapur shortly.
